Grand Council Convention

Committee Report

Since the 61st GCC, the committee has met a few times regarding promotion of GCC and the educational visits for collegiate chapters to discuss GCC. We have successfully met with multiple collegiate chapters in Pacific West Province to provide 15-20 minute presentations on what GCC is and how to help collegiate chapters plan on going, given Brother testimonials of past GCC attendance, and promoted the importance of Pacific West attendance at GCC. We targeted these educational presentations to be done during the chapter meetings occurring shortly after new Brothers were initiated.

In addition, the GCC committee helped the GCC delegates decide with the logistics of planning the Pac West summer retreat; a traditional Pac West event that is done on off GCC years to promote Province, Brotherhood, unity and fellowship.

Since we are starting the new academic year, the GCC committee plans to restart the educational presentations with as many collegiate chapters in PacWest again before registration ends, and get an idea for some of the barriers Brothers have for the attendance at a GCC. Discuss ideas on how to overcome those barriers, as well as, stay up to date with news regarding the next GCC and disseminate information as needed. Other benefits of being a part of the committee is you can voice your opinions about decisions made for GCC, such as if certain events should take place.

PacBesters

Committee Report

The PacBesters committee reviewed all current scholarships and ultimately decided to remove the PacWest to PacBest scholarship as it is difficult for newly initiated Brothers to write about how to improve a Province in any aspect. The money was moved to the One For All scholarship to allow the Brother who is being written about to be awarded covered early bird registration. The committee has also decided to start recognitions, where Brothers can submit short shoutouts to individual Brothers or Chapters who were not recognized in our traditional scholarships or awards. These recognitions should be related to Kappa Psi, Brotherhood, school, or pharmacy achievements, and these will be announced randomly throughout the banquet or dinner after the assembly. Ultimately, the goal of this committee is to acknowledge Brothers and their achievements.

Philanthropy

Committee Report

Over the past six months, the Philanthropy Committee has met monthly to foster collaboration among chapters and expand our collective impact. During our meetings, we reviewed upcoming events, set goals, and discussed service projects that reflect our Brotherhood’s values of charity and unity.

As a committee, we worked together to develop and implement the Pacific West Province Fall Philanthropic Initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, supporting both the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Cancer Center locally and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. nationally. As part of this initiative, we’re proud to have organized a group service activity during the Fall Province Assembly, where over 100 Brothers will work together to make fleece blankets for patients in the local Pomona community while strengthening our Brotherly bonds in the process.

Looking ahead, our goals for the next six months are to prepare a similar initiative for the Spring Assembly in San Francisco, continue supporting the Brothers and Chapters of PacWest, and recognize and highlight outstanding chapter service efforts across the Province.

Thank you to the Brothers who have volunteered their time and dedication to the committee: Dr. Clark Santidad, Dr. Sonia Phan, Ashley Wong, Jen Kim and Joe Tucker.

Province Assembly Planning

Committee Report

Since the last Spring 2025 Province Assembly in Tucson, AZ, the Province Planning Committee has worked closely with the Epsilon Gamma chapter to coordinate and prepare for the upcoming Fall 2025 Province Assembly in Pomona, CA. Our efforts have focused on supporting EG in developing a well-structured schedule, organizing logistics, and ensuring strong communication with the Executive Board and attending/hosting chapters. During our committee meeting, we discussed event timelines and best practices for hosting successful Province events. Our goal is to assist the Beta Gamma chapter as they begin planning the Spring 2026 Province Assembly and to help future host chapters execute smooth and engaging Province events for all Brothers across the Pacific West Province.

Province Development

Committee Report

Throughout the first half of the term, the Province Development Committee has performed chapter check ins with 7 collegiate chapters to assess their baseline level of functioning and preparedness. The committee has had brothers from 10 chapters attend its meetings throughout the term. In our meetings we have covered topics such as what can be gained from attending Province Assemblies, available materials through the Province and Kappa Psi Portal, updates from our Province Supervisors, the goal to have all chapters present at each Assembly, what to expect from a Province Assembly, as well as long term GCC benefits and preparedness. We also allowed time at each meeting for chapters to bring up any concerns or challenges they were facing to allow for group problem solving. The committee’s goals for the Spring half of the term are to have every single chapter present at the Spring Assembly in San Francisco, prepare our chapters for future Province Assemblies and GCC, support and maintain all collegiate chapters, and build upon topics raised by the Province to best support all our brothers.

Thank you to all the brothers who have paid their dues in a timely manner. For Fall Province, I am introducing bucket hats as our fundraiser!

During my term as Treasurer, I am looking into transitioning us to Zeffy for future Province registrations. Doing this will make collecting registration fees and checking brothers into province much easier. Satrap Joe Tucker and I will also be working on creating a fundraising guide. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding our Province’s finances and your own chapter’s finances. Hope to see you all at our Spring 2025 Province Assembly!
